Sleep Hypnosis - can it help with insomnia and other sleep problems

Updated: Feb 26, 2023

If you suffer with insomnia or have trouble falling or staying asleep you have probably wondered –

Insomnia Hypnosis

How can I stop my mind racing so I can sleep?

I feel so tired so why can’t I sleep or stay asleep?

How can I get to sleep without sleeping pills or medication?

I have had several hours sleep so why do I still feel tired?

Getting a good night’s sleep is so important for our overall well-being. When we don’t sleep well we can’t function properly. Our immune systems are compromised and our general health is impacted. Sleep problems or feeling constantly fatigued can be a sign of PTSD, depression or anxiety or could be associated with other health issues.

Hypnotherapy can help you quickly identify the triggers that may be causing you to stay awake and then we help retrain your brain and/or deal with any underlying issues, that may be associated to why you are having trouble falling or staying asleep.. Sleep hypnosis can help you to re-programme your mind, clear fearful events that may be causing you to stay awake and calm that overthinking mind.

Does sleep hypnosis actually work?

It all depends on the person.

For some, sleep hypnosis works tremendously well, often resulting in the client not needing sleep medication after the sessions, yet for others, the whole experience may vary depending on issues and circumstances.

Whilst the results can be unpredictable, studies have shown that simply practising the exercises at home can be a great way to relieve stress and excess worries, which in turn lead to a better rest.

"In a study that has now been published in the scientific journal "Sleep," they have demonstrated that hypnosis has a positive impact on the quality of sleep, to a surprising extent. "It opens up new, promising opportunities for improving the quality of sleep without drugs," says biopsychologist Björn Rasch who heads the study at the Psychological Institute of the University of Zurich in conjunction with the "Sleep and Learning" project."

So, whilst sleep hypnosis is not entirely infallible, it’s a handy way of leading a relaxed lifestyle and achieving a healthy sleep.
